The use of programs such as project P.O.W.E.R, Botvin Life skills, social media campaigns, mentoring/ internship programs, skills/ job trainings, employment connections, build support systems to promote mental and social health, long term case management will reduce criminal behavior as well as involvement in the criminal justice system and reduce recidivism.
A broad diversity of proven evidence-based programs that address preventing underlying causes for criminal behavior will work to combat this systemic community issue. Trinidad Youth Club and partners will build programs that offer support resources for individuals coming out of the criminal justice system, young people that are identified as at risk through our partners to be involved in their community in healthy ways. Choosing programs that provide opportunities, teach skills, and offer participants recognition for their work helps at risk young people to create strong bonds with their community. When clear standards and expectations are defined, healthier choices are more likely to occur. This is known as the social-development strategy and has been proven to be an effective tool.
Keep Trinidad Safe works with our community partners to receive referrals in order to assist to improve their lives and keep them out of the corrections system.
Marsy Key - Executive Director
Marsy Key works for the Las Animas Huerfano Counties District Health Department as the Community Prevention Coordinator. She has a degree in Sociology and focuses on prevention, intervention, and assissting the needs of our community. One of her favorite hobbies is art, and specifically to use art in social emotional learning with the population we serve. In addition to the health department she is the business manager for Keyco Logistics, her family's business. She serves on the Youth Club of Trinidad Board of Directors, Partners for a Drug Free Community, Huerfano Las Animas Early Childhood Council, Juvenile Services Planning Committee, and Trinidad Coalition for the Unhoused. Serving others is important to her. Glenn, her husband of 17 years is her biggest supporter. The two of them are often traveling to Washington, or on a cruise somewhere fun.
Jeremy Maucione - Operations Manager
Jeremy Maucione is the Operations Operations Manager and a lifelong member of the Trinidad community. He plays an active role in supporting staff, coordinating programs, and working directly with community and court partners to ensure clients receive the help they need to move forward. With a background in corrections and peer support, Jeremy brings a practical, compassionate approach to his work. He is passionate about helping individuals build stability, accountability, and hope while strengthening the community he calls home.
Jessica Guzman is a wife and a mother of five. A woman of faith. She helps her husband run his construction business, Innovative Construction Finishes (ICF). Jessica was born and raised in a small town Trinidad, Colorado. Such as small towns are she knows everyone and everyone knows her. She admires her surroundings of nature like the lakes, creeks, and all the mountains, the Aspen trees, pine trees,
and the Pinon trees, and the most beautiful sunsets. Some of her hobbies and activities that she enjoys with her family are fishing,4wheeling, BBQ’s, drawing, swimming, volleyball, and family getaways. She also loves attending all her children's sports. Jessica is the oldest sibling of three. After graduating High School, she then went on to graduate from Cosmetology at TSJC. After graduating she worked for Senior INC where she loved taking care of Seniors. Then moved on to The First National Bank in Trinidad where she gained knowledge in banking. Now
a bookkeeper for her husband at ICF. Most of her busy days would include taking care of her grandparents while having a full-time job, running a family business and being a mother. Despite her busy schedule. Her inner child still comes out at times when she's goofing around with her children and all 3 dogs, such as singing, dancing, making funny faces and karaoke in the car while traveling. Shall you ever meet Jessica Guzman, you will find her to be the most amiable, heartwarming, down to earth type of woman.
Kat Serrato - Program Service Supervisor
Kat Serrato has been in recovery since October 2005, a journey that has shaped her life and fuels her passion for helping others. Born and raised in Loveland, Colorado, she relocated to Trinidad in 2020, where she quickly fell in love with the community and its people. With almost 10 years of peer support experience, Kat has found deep fulfillment in walking alongside others as they navigate their own paths toward healing and stability. Her lived experience, compassion, and steady presence guide her work and the connections she builds. She holds her Colorado Peer and Family Specialist certification, along with her QBHA and RCP credentials, and is an authorized CCAR facilitator qualified to train new peers as they work toward earning their own CPFS certification. Kat is a devoted wife and the proud mother of seven wonderful children, as well as five very loved cats. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys hiking, going to the movies, and spending quality time with her family. She can often be found strolling through Trinidad’s quiet streets, meeting neighbors, and strengthening her bond with the town she now calls home.
Tony Deese - Peer Support Specialist
Tony has been working to help others in Recovery for several years. He is currently working towards receiving his Peer Support Specialist Certification. Helping others is second nature to Tony as he has a large heart for those in need.
Amber Aragon - Client Service Specialist
Amber was born in Denver, Colorado, and has called Trinidad home for the past 30 years. She’s a vibrant, joyful person who takes pride in her journey of recovery, which began in April 2021. Not only has she dedicated herself to her own growth, but she also loves helping others on their paths. Amber is deeply involved in her local church and loves the Lord with all her heart. She’s a wonderful mother to her 13-year-old son and cares for her father in her free time. When she’s not busy with family, she enjoys reading, playing Mahjong, and going for scenic rides in the mountains. Her background includes an Associate’s degree in Health Administration, and she’s a certified Peer Support Specialist, CPR-certified, and holds her QBHA. Amber has a big heart for animals, with nine outdoor cats, one inside cat, and a little Chihuahua- Terrier that keeps her company. Her love for life shines through in her listening to music, spending quality time with family, and making new friends. Giving gifts is her love language, and she finds joy in making people smile. She’s truly a kind and joyful spirit, and is a wonderful friend and supporter.
Jason Wold - Peer Support Specialist
Jason’s addiction began in childhood after losing his mother, leading to early substance use, instability, and years of addiction, mental health struggles, and incarceration. After surviving Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a stroke in 2024, and a period of homelessness and despair, he entered detox and committed fully to recovery. Now 20 months clean and sober, Jason works as a Peer Support Specialist, volunteers in prisons, sponsors others in recovery, and serves on Colorado’s Lived Advisory Committee for homelessness. He believes in the power of lived experience, and in the possibility of becoming a miracle.
